Jessica McCutchen has composed music representing several genres and for several types of instrumentation. Her most recent project for big band, “Knock Knock Go Away” was played by Art Abrams Swing Machine. She has composed works for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, and full orchestra.  She has studied with Kevin Walczyk, Bill Whitley, and Carlos Velez.  McCutchen is easygoing and enjoys to add comedic elements to her compositions.

Jessica is also a versatile performer. She is proficient in flute, violin, and piano. She has performed in a numerous amount of ensembles including the Western Oregon Wind Ensemble, the Western Oregon Symphony, the Western Hemisphere Orchestra, and the Eugene Youth Symphony. She has performed with several musicians including violinist Midori Goto. Jessica is an experienced pit musician and has played in Beauty and the Beast, Fiddler on the Roof, Cinderella, and Babes in Arms. 

Jessica has been heavily involved in church music. For the past 10 years, she has been a part of organizing the music program and  providing piano accompaniment. She has a lot of experience with both hymns and contemporary music. She is skilled in improvising/arranging accompaniment parts and playing by ear.

Jessica is open minded and welcomes challenges.  She is currently pursuing her masters of music composition at Western Washington University. In 2018, she graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Contemporary Music Composition from Western Oregon University.
